First New Hotel New Orleans Project Since Katrina Slated
Construction on the first new hotel project in New Orleans since Hurricane Katrina will begin early next year in the French Quarter.
The long-vacant Astor Hotel will be converted into a condominium hotel by Royal Cosmopolitan LLC, headed by developers Angelo Farrell and Lee Laporte.
"This is to show the rest of the country that we are coming back," Farrell said Wednesday. "We're coming back at a higher level of service and quality."
